BANDS FROM THE ASPERGERS PARALLEL UNIVERSE
This is the final section on my website and it’s the one I enjoy working on the most. I came up with this idea before I came across a website called Aspergers Parallel Planet set up by a person with Aspergers called Alyson Bradley so I wouldn’t want her to think that I stole the idea from her.
Starter
Here is my own idea for another dimension. In other words, a parallel universe which is a co existing reality, two bodies who share the same space but are unaware of each other’s existence. In both realities there are co existing identical life forms only in my Parallel Universe there will be differences.
The writers of Red Dwarf made up an Opposite Gender Parallel Universe on the Red Dwarf episode ‘Parallel Universe’ where the crew meet their female opposites. The writers of South Park made up an Evil Parallel Universe on the South Park episode ‘Spooky Fish’ where the boys meet their evil opposites. And now I, Derek Rogers have made up an Aspergers Parallel Universe where all people with Aspergers in this universe are neurotypicals and where all neurotypicals in this universe have Aspergers. If you don’t know what a neurotypical is, it’s someone whose neurological development and function is within the normal range and if you don’t know what Aspergers is, it’s a life long brain disorder which effects the way a person communicates and relates to people around them.
Everything in the Aspergers Parallel Universe will appear the same as in this one and the music will be the same, as will the bands and the solo singers. The history of the Parallel Universe will be the same as in this one too except some historical events would be different; there would be no wars and I say that because I can’t imagine anyone with Aspergers wanting to start a war.
Main Course
Here is my own idea for ideal bands of mine, what they’d be called and which individual song they can have a cover hit with and they are named after some teams who appeared on a BBC2 quiz show called ‘Eggheads’. This section consists of 8 teams, all of which have appeared in the eleventh series of the show in 2010 and the ones I select for it are young teams. I suppose in a way it’s a bit like searching for Potential Officer material. Just as well not all teams who appear on ‘Eggheads’ are young really because if they were all young I would have to choose and it’s a good thing that the programme is aimed at all ages anyway.
Soon you’ll come across pictures of the teams with their team name being shown and the bands named after the teams would feature exactly the same people from them who are from the Aspergers Parallel Universe. The teams’ Aspergers doubles that is. If a team member appearing on Eggheads had Aspergers, then in the Parallel Universe, their double would be a neurotypical.
Not only that but the music in their cover versions would sound exactly the same as in the original versions apart from the voices because they would be the voices of the vocalists in the bands featuring the teams’ Aspergers counterparts. Also under their pictures are the names of the bands and also the names of the people and which role they would play in the band. I suppose in a way they would be like one hit wonder bands. They would also be cover bands mind you.
Each team comes with two videos. The first is of a still picture of the team with their team name being shown at the bottom of the screen and the song in the background that the band featuring the team’s Aspergers twins would be having a cover hit with and you might want to turn the volume up for it if you want to hear it properly. The second is of the teams’ Eggheads introduction where they state their names, ages and occupations which I thought I’d also include to make double sure that people know who they are and which one plays which role. It is unknown whether the occupations of the teams’ Aspergers opposites would be exactly the same or not.
Please note that the teams’ introductions do feature the light fading in and out which I could do nothing about and I have heard that some people with Aspergers are sensitive to the sight of flickering neon lights although I don’t have that problem myself. For those who do have this sensitivity, you might want to prepare yourselves for it.
I have taken the videos with my digital camcorder from BBCi Player except with the first team which I photographed from YouTube and the last team which I photographed from the telly in the living room. If you want to hear the song that the teams Aspergers opposites would be having a cover hit with, click the song title above the picture. If you want to see the teams introductions, click the band name under the picture.
