MY TASTE IN MUSIC
Music I Do And Don’t Like
I can hear notes by ear because I have perfect pitch. I used to think that everyone had perfect pitch but now I know that only very few people do, like James May from Top Gear as I’m told.

How I Got Into Liking Old Music
Sounds Of The Seventies
When my Mum and I lived in one of our old houses, my Dad who unfortunately I don’t see anymore, was playing a blank video in the living room and it had three episodes of ‘Sounds Of The Seventies’ on it that he recorded, and I was in the room when he was playing it. I didn’t realise until 2005 that I got into liking old music because of that. Who knows what my musical taste would have been like otherwise. Also in that year, they showed all the episodes of ‘Sounds Of The Seventies’ on television again, this time on BBC4, and there were 10 episodes in total. I can see why my Dad didn’t record all of them when it was first on.
Below are 69 of the songs I remember from the series and I’ve given 38 of the song titles links (underlined and in red) that take you to YouTube where you can watch the performance of the song by the group or singer from the series (those that I could find and would watch).

Top Of The Pops 2
As a teenager in the early 2000s I used to watch a programme called ‘Top Of The Pops 2’ presented by Radio presenter Steve Wright. Apparently he wasn’t the original host of the programme but he had been hosting it in the time I had been watching it. In the show he made his own choices of clips from old and new episodes of the original ‘Top Of The Pops’. I also used to record it and I liked the old clips better. Here is a brief list of songs I remember from the programme.
The Whistle Test Years
I also used to watch a programme called ‘The Whistle Test Years’ that I recorded on a blank cassette in 2003 where ex presenter of ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ Bob Harris made his own choices of clips from the programme through the years. There were 14 episodes in total and below are 78 of the performances I remember from the series and I’ve given 34 of the song titles links (underlined and in red) that take you to YouTube where you can watch the performances of the songs by the groups or singers from the series (those that I could find and would watch). Again, you can find out more about the groups and singers by clicking the blue links.
